While everyone is cramming for Boracay and other much popular
beaches in the Philippines, My group and I, decided to try this secluded island
which took us 8 hours to get there.
After 2 grueling bus and banca rides, finally, we reached Mauban,
Quezon. A small fishing town and also where the port to Cagbalete island is
situated.
While waiting for our “banca” to arrive, we were entertained
by these kids whose swimming skills are really amazing! You just have to throw
some coins and they will dive in to get it.
It’s an hour banca ride from Mauban port to Cagbalete
island. Along the way, I enjoyed the scent of the sea that I haven’t smell for
quite some time and the ocean breeze that blows my hair. The perfect blue color
of the sea which compliments the sky was also so relaxing.
I can already see the island from afar after an hour ride. I felt so excited! The water is becoming light crystal blue and the white sand adds delight to my eyes.
We headed to Joven’s beach resort. There are no hotels on
the island. The usual form of accommodation here is camping so I suggest you
bring your own tents to save money. Though there are some huts and single room
that you can rent. But if you want to enjoy more the environment…try camping!
;)
After setting our camp, I took a stroll along the shore to
relax, enjoy the scenery and of course take my first photo.
Lying on soft white sand under blue skies with the sound and
breeze from sea is just the most relaxing thing to do in this world.
Day 2
It’s early morning…and the first thing on my mind after my
morning prayer is to witness the island’s sunrise…. It was so energizing it’s
as if God is greeting me “Good Morning”!
Usually, it’s low tide during morning on the Island.
And when the water draws back, I was surprised what’s
underneath! It reminds me of the documentary “As we drain the Earth” by
Discovery channel. We decided to walk afar from the shore and go to the midst
of the empty sea.
As I go along, I saw a lot of good finds. But I prefer just
to leave it there instead of taking it home as a souvenir even if there are no
souvenir shops there.
On the Rocks! As I go on, I came to this picture
It was summer but it’s raining! Unexpected happenings really
happens in an island
Enjoying the rain & sea on my skin Feeling
refreshed!
Finally, the sun is shining again and it’s brighter than
ever!
After that day, I just realized our lives is just like the
environment on the island. Sometimes it is low, sometimes we’re on the rocks.
But at the end of the day it will be on high and bright again.... :)
